He works in the narrative illustration lineage of Remington, Howard Pyle and N.C. Wyeth, painting historically researched Western subjects — Plains figures, cowboys, mountain men and the U.S. Cavalry — and has taken part in Native American reenactments since 1994 as reference. He was named an Oil Painters of America Master Signature member in 2002 and painted commissions for the Washita Battlefield National Historic Site and Fort Union National Monument.
