Wear and age to the frame.      Artist Bio: Félix Ziem (1821–1911) was a French Orientalist and Barbizon-circle painter, born in Beaune and originally trained as an architectural draftsman in Dijon before turning to painting in his twenties. He is best known for atmospheric scenes of Venice and Constantinople, cities he visited repeatedly over a long career, and his richly colored maritime views helped define 19th-century French Orientalist landscape. Ziem moved within the Barbizon circle and counted Eugène Delacroix and Théodore Rousseau among his artistic peers, though his style remained distinctly Romantic and colorist rather than naturalist. He became one of the most commercially successful French painters of his generation, producing a large body of Mediterranean and Bosphorus subjects that remain his defining contribution.
