(10) Baccarat Massena Champagne Glasses - Stamped on the bottom.   Height: 8 1/2”    Condition: The glasses are in good condition. No chips or cracks.    About: Baccarat was founded in Lorraine in 1764 but made window glass and tableware for its first fifty years; it became a crystal house in 1816, when Aime-Gabriel d'Artigues converted the works to lead crystal using English methods, and a service ordered by Charles X in 1828 began the royal commissions that still define the name. “Massena, ” introduced in 1979, is identified by its orgue cut — deep organ-pipe bevels radiating up from the foot, with the upper bowl left entirely plain. The contrast between the heavily cut lower half and the undecorated bowl is what gives the pattern its weight and prismatic play.
