Large Lalique Bacchantes Vase - Originally designed by Rene Lalique in 1927.    Dimensions: 9 1/2” Tall x 7 1/4” Diameter    Condition: Two minor flea bite chips to the bottom lip of the vase. Minor wear to the frosted surface, consistent with handling.    About: René Lalique (1860–1945) was the leading Art Nouveau jeweler in Paris before he turned to glass, and his frosted relief set against clear ground became one of the defining looks of Art Deco. Pieces from his lifetime are signed “R. Lalique”; production after his death in 1945, under his son Marc, is marked “Lalique France.” “Bacchantes” is the best-known design in the Lalique catalogue: a cylinder wrapped in a high-relief frieze of nude bacchantes, the female followers of Bacchus. René Lalique designed it in 1927 and it has been in near-continuous production since.
