About: Rene Lalique (1860–1945) was the leading Art Nouveau jeweler in Paris before he turned to glass, and his frosted relief set against clear ground became one of the defining looks of Art Deco. Pieces from his lifetime are signed “R. Lalique”; production after his death in 1945, under his son Marc, is marked “Lalique France.” “Chiens, ” also catalogued Chasse Chiens, was designed about 1921 and belongs to a small group of pieces sharing the running-hound motif; no full service was ever made in it.
