After Frederic Remington ”Rattlesnake” Bronze - Bears a cast Remington signature on the base. Dimensions: 23” Tall x 16” Wide Condition: The sculpture is in good condition. Some wear to the finish of the wood base. Artist Bio: Frederic Sackrider Remington (1861-1909) was an American painter, illustrator and sculptor born in Canton, New York. He studied at the Yale School of Fine Arts and later briefly at the Art Students League, and built an early career as a magazine illustrator of the West. He took up sculpture in 1895 and from 1900 worked with Roman Bronze Works in Brooklyn using the lost-wax process, which allowed him to rework each model between casts. “The Rattlesnake, ” a mounted horse shying from a snake, was modeled in 1905 and substantially revised in 1908. Casting after his models continued after his death in 1909.
