After Charles M Russell ”Bighorn Sheep” Bronze - Bears a cast Russell signature on the sculpture. Dimensions: 8 1/2” x 8 1/4” x 6” Condition: The sculpture is in very good condition. Artist Bio: Charles Marion Russell (1864-1926) was an American painter, illustrator and sculptor of the American West, born in St. Louis. He moved to Montana at sixteen, worked as a wrangler and cowboy in the Judith Basin, and remained in the state for the rest of his life, settling in Great Falls. Largely self-taught, he produced more than two thousand works depicting cowboys, Plains Indian life, wildlife and Northern Plains landscape. Alongside painting he modeled continuously in wax, clay and plaster, and a number of these models were cast in bronze. Casting after Russell's models continued after his death in 1926.
