Harry Jackson ”Pony Express III” Bronze - Signed by the artist on the base. Date: 1977 Dimensions: 8 1/2” x 10” x 6 3/4” Condition: Minor wear to the paint, otherwise, the sculpture is in good condition. Artist Bio: Harry Jackson (1924-2011) was an American painter and sculptor, born in Chicago and long associated with Cody, Wyoming. He attended Saturday classes at the Art Institute of Chicago on a scholarship as a boy and served as a Marine combat sketch artist in the Pacific during the Second World War. In New York from 1946 he worked as an Abstract Expressionist and knew Jackson Pollock, before European travel turned him toward realism and Western subjects. He is known for cowboy and Native American figures, including polychrome painted bronzes, and maintained a foundry at Camaiore, Italy.
