Shiro Kasamatsu Japanese Woodblock Print - ”Golden Leaves of Cherry Tree at Joshokoji Temple” . Signed in the lower left, numbered 64/200, and dated 1967 in the bottom margin. Unframed. Size: 16” x 11” Condition: Black paint marks on the right edge, and a 1/4” square cut in the bottom right corner. There is also a small piece of tape on the back of the top right corner from previous matting. Artist Bio: Shiro Kasamatsu (b. Tokyo, 1898) studied traditional Japanese painting under Kaburagi Kiyokata, who gave him the name “Shiro.” Though trained in bijin-ga, he focused on landscapes. His work caught the attention of publisher Watanabe Shozaburo after being shown in major exhibitions like the Bunten.
