James Houston Steuben Trout w/ 18K Gold Fly
Size: 8" tall x 6 1/2" wide (at widest) Condition: Very good. No chips or cracks. Artist Bio: James Houston, a Canadian artist, spent over a decade living among the Inuit people, learning their traditional art forms and playing a crucial role in bringing Inuit art to the global stage. In the early 1960s, he joined Steuben Glass as a designer and created a series of glass sculptures that combined his knowledge of Inuit themes with the medium of crystal. In addition to his artistic creations, Houston was a prolific writer, authoring numerous books that further showcased the beauty and depth of Inuit culture. His efforts were instrumental in founding the West Baffin Eskimo Co-operative, which supported Inuit artists and facilitated the distribution of their works internationally.
