Circa 1918 Metal Brewery Crate: JACOB RUPPERT BREWER NY - Description Beer and Baseball American traditions are brought together in one piece of timeless advertising: Jacob Ruppert Brewery Beer Crate from the era of The Bambino, The Sultan of Swat, one of the greatest to ever play the game. Ruppert, Jacob (1867 to 1939), was one of New York s most prominent brewers: producing Knickerbocker Lager and Ruppert s Pale Ale. He and a partner purchased the New York Highlanders baseball team in 1915 changed their name to the New York Yankees and brought the Boston Red Sox pitcher George Herman: Babe: Ruth to New York in 1919. Ruppert later brought Lou Gehrig and Joe DiMaggio to the Yankees. Early 20th century metal beer crate from the old Jacob Ruppert Brewery in New York. Authentic piece with the patina of decades in service. The front and back of the crate feature embossed lettering: JACOB RUPPERT BREWER- NEW YORK: and the side is embossed :1918: below the handhold.
