Finely Carved Jade: Bok Choy Whimsy: Damaged - The original whimsy of a cabbage carved from priceless jade and owned by a member of the imperial family has inspired many artisans to create Jade carvings of great detail and skill representing the common Bok Choy. While this cabbage might seem humble, in Chinese culture it actually represents prosperity. The cabbage was likely meant as an allegory of female virtue, its dazzling white stalk symbolizing purity; the deep green leaves, fertility, and abundance. This example is formed from a luminous consistent apple green with moderate saturation, with elements of white and cream jade inclusions across the back.
