Theodore Handcock( 1923-89) : Study of Nudes portfolio - Theodore Hancock, British- American, 1923-1989. Portfolio of sketches and studies of male and female form nudes, over 30 pieces. Many signed as well as dated from the 80s. Hancock mainly worked in watercolor: his work was modernist and heavily incorporated engineering and technology. His mural, Man and Computers, explores the close relationship linking man and the then-new machine, with a 'web-like intimacy' between the two. He was an official artist to NASA and its Apollo space program in the 1960s as part of the NASA Art Program. The United States Navy commissioned him as a Cadet of Fine Arts Forum Visiting Artist at the United States Military Academy at West Point. His work can be found in the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C., the United States Navy Art Collection, the Air Force Space & Missile Museum, as well as Private Estate Collections and University Endowments.
