Lovett, was a distinguished member of the Board for more than 45 years. Mr. Lovett served as a Managing Director from 1971-1989 and as an Honorary Director from 1989 until his death. He chaired the Executive Committee in 1975-76, served as Vice President from 1976 to 1986, and as Vice Chairman from 1986 to 1989. In addition, he was President of the Metropolitan Opera Guild from 1971 to 1979, and Guild Chairman from 1979 to 1986. He was also active in the Metropolitan Opera National Council.
