Book Condition: Good to Very Good, mild fade and fabric wear, paper changes as expected for a 100+-year-old book. Originally published in French in 1668, this edition in English is profusely illustrated by Gustave Dore. While the title page indicates there is an essay on Fontaine's life and works and the life of Aesop, the Phrygian, these are not present in this edition or any of the second American editions of record from this publisher.
