European War Hammer with Curved Pick, 16th C. - Europe, possibly Italy, 16th century. Iron or steel war hammer with a broad hammer face to one side and a long curved pick to the other, mounted through a dark wooden haft. The head has a central socket with shaped side plates, a tapered hammer neck, and a pronounced beak form pick intended for piercing armor. Measurements 21” L overall, 8.5” hammer head Materials: Iron or steel, wood. Condition: Shows heavy oxidation, pitting, encrustation, and surface wear throughout. The wooden haft shows age cracks, darkened patina, rubbing, and losses.
