Victorian Etched Steel Shield, 19th C. - Europe, probably England or Continental Europe, 19th century. A Victorian decorative shield, with slightly convex body and rolled border. The face is finely etched with dense scrolling foliate ornament, birds, and a central armorial device with an eagle motif within a shield shaped cartouche. The reverse is plain, fitted with suspension mounts and rear carrying or hanging loops. Measurements 26.5”L 19”W Material: Etched steel, with riveted metal mounts. Condition: Good antique condition with surface wear, oxidation, patina, rubbing to etched decoration, scattered scratches, and minor dents.
