Bronze Finial in Form of Sacred Bull, Iranian 300 - 900CE - A finely cast bronze finial modeled in the form of a sacred bull, rendered with compact strength and dignified composure. The animal?s head projects forward with gently swelling muzzle and small drilled nostrils, the surface retaining areas of green mineral encrustation consistent with age. Gracefully curved, back-swept horns emerge from beneath a decorated brow band, their elegant arc lending the composition both movement and balance. The forehead is embellished with incised ornamentation, possibly evoking stylized vegetal or celestial motifs, while the collar is articulated with beaded borders. The ears, slightly turned outward, are positioned in a tranquil and attentive pose. The neck flares into a hollowed collar-form terminal, indicating its function as an architectural or ceremonial finial, likely once affixed to a standard, staff, or ritual implement. The surface displays a deep, warm brown patina with scattered areas of natural green oxidation, enhancing the sculptural modeling and attesting to its antiquity. The work is executed in the lost-wax casting technique, demonstrating confident craftsmanship characteristic of metalwork traditions in the region during the transitional period following Kushan authority and into the ascendancy of Iranian dynasties, including the Sasanians, prior to the upheavals brought by Xionite/Huna and Hephthalite incursions.
