Medieval 'Rear Cutlet' Element of Armour, 17th c. - European element of armour rear cutlet lame for attachment to a backplate. The lower most component of a rear backplate with a curved form encompassing the hips of the plate. 17th century probably for a cuirass armor. Blackened patina with large brass rivets. Size 20”W, Ex-Thomas Del Mar (lot # 355), Ex-John Woodman Higgins Armory Museum Condition: Good condition with remnants of leather and wear from age and use.
