Dutch Percussion Rifle, Signed Edouard De Beaumont - Interesting European rifle with percussion firing mechanism, 18th/19th century. Walnut wood stock carved with lion head and scrolling to the underside. Side of the butt with hinged clam shell compartment. Engraved brass mounts, blued lock and tiger stripe Damascus barrel with a silver inlaid signature of the maker. Signed (Edouard De Beaumont - Roermond?) possibly some relation to the Dutch arms manufacture of Maastricht, Netherlands. Edouard de Beaumont made famous by the 1871 Beaumont, a service rifle of the Armed forces of the Netherlands selected over numerous competitors including Remington, Cooper, and Peabody.
