Dayak Wood Carved Rattan Splitter, Guardian Figure
20th century wood carved Indonesian rattan splitter. Mounted to a wall, the user would pull the rattan strips through the two metal blades at the top of the figures head, and then cut the strands to the size of the width of the two blades. The figure represented is a guardian spirit meant to protect the user while performing this intricate and important task. Size including blades 17 3/4" H x 4" W
Condition: Well preserved with a fine patina from use and age throughout.
