Sterling Silver Serving Spoon by Hester Bateman - Beautiful sterling silver large serving spoon signed by Hester Bateman, 1784. Signed by Hester Bateman 1709-1794 the most famous English female silversmith of the 18th century. Hester, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Nedem married 1732 to the goldsmith John Bateman who passed 1760. Hester who has no less than 5 children was left the silversmith business and thrust herself into operation becoming the most known and talented female silversmith of the 18th century in England.
