Historical French 1822 Pistol, Removed by ”Big Red One” WWII 1945 - French model 1822 percussion pistol converted from flintlock. Covered in original proof marks to screws with brass trim, wood stock and steel mounts to all sides. Brass barrel band engraved (GER - 1945) in reference to the date of removal from German forces circa 1945 at the end of WWII. Lock plate with engraving of the French arsenal of manufacture and proofed. Lock is additionally engraved with the historical name for the 1st infantry division of the American forces known as the ”Big Red One”. Big red one also known as ”The Fighting First” and ”The Bloody First” fought in 1945 at the German conflicts of the Ardennes front, Siegfried Line, Ruhr, the Rhine, Remagen Bridgehead, Ruhr Pocket and Harz Mountains.
