Afghan MOP Inlaid Jezail Flintlock Rifle - Mother of pearl inlaid Afghan rifle, pre-Russian invasion. Traditional arched wood stock. Octagonal barrel with light incising and a hammers mark. Flint lock without action, hammer cocks and release but without connecting to trigger. Frizzen loose and moves freely (probably return spring). Engraving to the lock plate of a lion carrying the crown and a (3) under the crown. Brass or silver wire inlay. Chiseled trigger guard. Mainspring missing. Brass barrel bands. Jezail or jezzail is a simplistic and effective longarm from the Middle East and South Asia. Size 49 1/2” L, barrel 34 1/4” L Private USA Collection Condition: loose or missing panels, cracks, wear, commensurate with age and use.
