Rotating Armour Upper Cannon / Rerebrace, 16th c. , Ex-Higgins Museum - European armor Upper Cannon or Rerebrace with a rolled roped edge and affixed with three rotating sections of overlapping steel allowing superior movement of the arm defenses. Probably 16th century or earlier with notable signs of corrosion and wear to the edges from use. There is a hooked portion for the attachment of a shield or additional defense mount. Painted to the interior with the number (828) in white. Size 10 3/4” L x 5 1/2” W Ex-Southern California Arms and Armour Collection, Ex-John Woodman Higgins Armory Museum Collection Condition: Wear overall, oxidization, moves fairly well despite oxidization.
