War Horse Saddle, Ex-Higgins & Ex-Archduke Eugen - Rare antique Austrian saddle with wooden frame, circa 1610-1680. Saddle constructed of a wood frame covered with padded fabric to interior, stitched padded leather to exterior, embossed panels of brass and tacks, and wrought iron mounts. Bow and cantle bound with brass central embossed plate featuring a crowned double-headed Imperial Eagle. Includes buckles and retains a single stirrup. Size 17” L x 16 1/2” H. Provenance Ex-Higgins Museum, Ex-Anderson Galleries, New York, 1st-5th of March, 1927 - lot 861. From the armoury of Archduke Eugen, Fortress Hohenwerfen, Salzburg, Austria. Condition: One stirrup absent and it's leather strap broken. Other condition issues commensurate with age including cracked leather and other losses.
