African Long Sword w/Scabbard - East Africa, probably Eritrea or region. African fighting long sword with a deeply curved slender blade. Handle in horn with a peened over cap to the pommel. Blade is a single edge curved blade with two engraved linear details and a circular form mark to the ricasso with a cross at the center of a swirl. Some checkering to the ricasso area engraved. Leather scabbard with a simple leather tassel to the tip and light geometric patterns. A similar example can be seen in the Horniman Museum UK, Museum (Object #1969.190). 38 3/4” L overall, blade 33 3/4” L Ex-California Collection Condition: Well preserved condition with wear commensurate with age.
