Large African Throwing Sword, Azande Peoples - Africa, Azande peoples. Modeled similarly to a sickle this central Zaire sword was used as a throwing projectile. Wide flat partially single edge blade with a deep curve to the tip which is double edged and pierced. The ricasso area with a double sided crescent shaped protrusion. Engraved with light checkering to the ricasso. Flat disc pommel in iron. Grip tightly wrapped in bands of flattened steel. Size 37 1/4” L, blade 31” L Ex-California Collection
