Bone armor vest comprised carefully with woven fiber and rattan strands under bone scales. Coconut or other natural material buttons affixed to front of vest, while three bone roundels. Size 27 1/2” H x 19” W The Toraja people are known for their intricate bone armor, known as ”waruga, ” by utilizing the bones of deceased family members. The bones were cleaned, carved, and then used to construct armor pieces that were worn by warriors during battles or displayed as symbols of prestige and honor.
