Russian Imperial Cossack Bolt Action Rifle, Dated 1888 - Imperial Russian Berdan II, bolt action long rifle used by the Cossacks during the late 19th century. Round barrel, proof marked and stamped throughout with serial numbers. The top mark a double headed eagle reading (II K) underneath. Seral Number (41XXX), dated 1888 to the stock with an impressed mark and the action mechanism. Size 42” L, barrel 20 1/2” L Cossacks, as a prominent military and cultural group in Russia, used the Berdan II rifle extensively. The rifle saw action in various conflicts, including the Russo-Turkish War (1877–1878), the Russo-Japanese War (1904–1905), and World War I (1914–1918)
