Navaja knives have a historical association with piracy, particularly during the Golden Age of Piracy in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. Pirates, who roamed the seas in search of treasure and plunder, often carried a variety of weapons, including knives, for self-defense, utility, and intimidation. Navaja knives with brass handles were well-suited for maritime life and could serve a variety of purposes aboard a pirate ship.
