Japanese Shunga Pillow Book of Hand Colored Erotica - Edo Period 17th-18th century Japanese hand colored and inscribed pillow book with numerous observations of erotica and storied interaction. The text detailing the expressive poses. Images colored in light flesh colored tons with black colored hair. The album exterior with a light blue color and inscribed to the last page, probably the Author (KIANAGA) or Torri Kiyonaga 1815 a Japanese ukiyo-e artist of the Torii school. Originally Sekiguchi Shinsuke, the son of an Edo bookseller from Motozaimokucho Itchome in Edo, he took on Torii Kiyonaga as an art name. Size 6 1/2” x 4 1/8” Southern California Collection Condition: well worn from age and use, the exterior with fading throughout. The interior very legible with good detailing to all colored pages and writing. 18 pages of Erotica, 20 pages of inscription.
