Fine Cased Set of Dueling Pistols, Signed F. Contriner - Fine cased set of dueling pistols with accessories circa 1798-1810 by an excellent maker listed on the included document. Document reads ”Master's son of Assling Tyrol, registered in Vienna in 1798 as a young man. 1810 Master in Vienna. 1817 Head of the Guild. Then Mentioned continuously until 1837. After The Berlin Armoury”. He is also listed in Heer Der Neue Stockel volume 1, page 239. Active circa 1798-1848. Pistols feature finely checkered stocks in a dark brown wood with decorated with beautifully engraved mounts in silver and silvered steel with dolphin hammers. Singed to the lock plate (F. Contriner). All original and very good finish bluing to barrel which is octagonal to round and rifled. Signed to the octagonal section (FRANZ, CONTRINER, IN WIEN). Case with included accessories hammer, bullet mold, powder charge flask, ramrod with corkscrew tip, paper and two wood boxes with caps and textile. Size case 17” W x 10 1/4” L, pistol 15 1/2” L, barrel 9 1/8” L International Arms and Armour Collection Condition: Very good with original bluing and excellent condition overall.
