Rare Spanish Stirrup, 16th Century
Iberian Peninsula, Spain 16th century period in the Turkish form of chiseled iron with russet finish. One side with a decoration of Pegasus leaping over fire surrounded with Mer-men. The other with a lady in a puff-sleeved dress holding a mirror and surrounded by putti astride dragons below all within molded borders. Similar examples can by found in the Royal Armory of Madrid illustrated: A.F. Calvert (Spanish Arms and Armor) plate 196. Size 6" H, 6 1/8" L, 5" W
