Emperor's Guard Ethiopian Shotel w/ English Blade - Very high quality and early Ethiopian sword with English blade marked to ricasso (M. Kevorkoff & Co Harrar) & opposite The Lion of Judah. Blade features double fuller with incised floral designs down the length. Believed to be in use during the reign of Emperor Menelek II (1889-1912) with his royal guard. The Lion of Judah is a symbol that has been associated with the Ethiopian monarchy for centuries. It is a symbol of strength, kingship, pride, and African sovereignty.
