Excavated Roman Pugio Fragment - Early excavated Roman Pugio sword fragment with pommel attached and with a rectangular crossguard and double edged blade having a central raised medial ridge. Roman daggers, often referred to as ”pugiones, ” were distinctive weapons wielded by Roman soldiers during the height of the Roman Empire. These daggers typically had a straight double-edged blade, which was designed for both thrusting and slashing. The blade was usually around 7 to 12 inches in length and was made of iron or steel.
