Antique 17th C. European Rapier - Antique European rapier circa 2nd quarter of 17th century, likely German, singled edged straight blade with single central fuller and marked on both sides ”Andora” with accompanying ”eyelash marks”. The blade exhibits multiple impact marks from period use. Hilt displays flattened bars, pair of vertically recurved quillons, outer ring guard along with lower ring guard and pierced shell. Wire grip with full twisted and braded wire and ”Turks Heads”. Size 41” L, blade 33 1/2” L Condition: Guard shell with some losses, overall surface exhibits some rust pitting, retaining pleasing patina from age.
