Rare Form Pre-Columbian Biped Jar - White ground terracotta Mayan jar with ochre, orange and dark brown pigment throughout. Four stumped legs leads to an amphora like shaped body that slight narrows at the neck, making an ideal spot for grasping and holding. Convex opening with defined rim. Size 7 1/4” H x 7 1/2” W Collected prior to 2008, ex-Lacy Gallery (Vanna & Lee Lacy collection), Los Angeles CA. Lacy Gallery was founded upon six decades of collecting ethnographic and fine art. Lee Lacy was a distinguished Hollywood producer of iconic TV series and commercials. Condition: Soiling pitting and manganese deposits throughout, no obvious signs of restorations or repairs.
