Chokwe Wood Dance Mask, Pwo
Finely detailed hand carved decorative Chokwe Pwo or mwana pwo, the most popular dance mask among Chokwe culture. The face is covered in beautiful scarifications, the rattan braid acts as a face cover, the mask itself would lie on top of the head of the dancer. Ample amounts of wood raffia beads representing hair. Though representing a beautiful woman and the history of the founding female ancestors, these masks would be worn by men covered in fully braided fiber dress to hide their identity. Size 19" H on included custom stand
