Ornately Carved Dayak Bone Sword with Scabbard - Oceania, Borneo, Sword with intricately carved bone decoration known as a ” Mandau ” typical to the island of Borneo. The handle carved in an ornate web of hair and decoration, the grip a tightly wound twine compost with resins. Heavily decorated single edge blade that widens to the tip, inlaid and engraved throughout in brass decoration including an octopus like decoration attached to the ricasso area. Scabbard in wood with multiple panels of carved decoration with rattan wrapping to the reverse. Size 33 1/4” L, blade 25” L
