Etched Two-Hand Sword in the Spanish 16th c. style
Europe, Spain, Toledo manufactured two-hand sword probably of the Victorian period with a long double sided blade and lugs to the top of the double edge, ricasso and earliest section of the blade heavily etched in patterns of traditional scrolling, double-headed eagles, Griffin, dragon, other mythological beasts, and (Toledo, Spain) under a crest and crown of the double-headed eagle. The reverse side etched with the township name again (Toledo), (Jaime I), and scenes of scrolling. Crossguard features two turned iron straight quillion with orb ends, the grip replaced velvet over wood, the pommel lightly turned iron bulbous orb and hammered tang. 55 1/4" H, blade 42 3/4" H
