Bidspirit auction | Chinese Jade and Green Hardstone

Chinese Jade and Green Hardstone Jewelry - Assorted collection of Chinese jade and green hardstone jewelry comprising circular bangles, bead necklaces, a large-bead bracelet, carved pendants on cords, oval cabochons, and small figural carvings. The pieces range from pale celadon and whitish-green to apple and spinach-green tones, with several showing natural mottling and cloudy translucency. Forms represented include classic round bangles, polished bead strands, Buddhist figural pendants, and small amuletic carvings, all closely associated with traditional Chinese personal adornment and scholar?s or devotional objects.Several carvings incorporate auspicious Buddhist imagery, including a seated Guanyin pendant and small figures resembling Budai, or the ?Laughing Buddha, ? symbols associated respectively with compassion, protection, happiness, and abundance. The collection reflects the long Chinese preference for jade jewelry and carved hardstone ornaments, traditions especially prominent during the Qing dynasty and continuing through the 20th century. From photographs alone, the individual materials cannot be conclusively distinguished between nephrite, jadeite, and related green hardstones, so the group is best cataloged broadly as jade and green hardstone unless gemological testing provides more specific identification. Jade necklaces/prayer beads and bangles. Bangles measure approximately 3” in diameter.
