ARISTIDE MAILLOL, ”BINDING SHEATHS” - This lot features a professionally framed woodcut print titled, ”Binding Sheaths” by listed French artist, Aristide Maillol, circa 1950. This piece measures in frame, 16'' H x 20'' W. The print depicts two figures harvesting in a field, rendered in a simple, stylized line. The work is an illustration for the book Daphnis and Chloe by Longus, published in 1937. Maillol is best known for his classical and simplified depictions of the female nude in sculpture, but he also worked in painting and graphic arts.
