Itzchak Tarkay (1935–2012) was a Yugoslavian-born Israeli artist, a Holocaust survivor, and a master of modern figurative art. His biography is marked by early adversity, with his family emigrating to Israel after surviving the Mauthausen concentration camp during WWII. Despite financial hardship forcing him to interrupt his studies, Tarkay's career included graduating from the Avni Institute of Art and exhibiting his work internationally. He is known for his paintings of elegant women in serene, dreamlike settings, influenced by French Impressionism and Post-Impressionism.
