PEMBROKE MAHOGANY DROP LEAF TABLE - This table features a Pembroke Mahogany drop leaf table with a single drawer and wonderful character throughout. In America, early Pembroke tables made in Newport, Rhode Island, and Philadelphia were designed after the English Chippendale-style examples. The tops had oval, serpentine, or straight leaves supported by pivoting brackets over a single drawer rising on tapering legs with X stretchers. The stretchers could either be straight or arched and in some examples pierced. The later Federal (1780-1820) examples were simpler in style with rectangular tops and tapering legs, more along the lines of the Hepplewhite style. This table measures (with leaves down), 28.5” H x 21” W x 38” D and with leaves up, 28.5” H x 44” W x 38” D.
