HERBERT KRENCHEL, LARGE RED ENAMEL ”KRENIT BOWL” - A large red enamel “Krenit bowl” designed by Herbert Krenchel, circa 1950s. Made in Denmark and marked underneath as shown in photos. This mid-century modern bowl measures, 4.5” H x 15” W x 15” D. Herbert Krenchel was a Danish designer, who designed the famous Krenit-bowls. Krenchel graduated as a Master of Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark. He was focused on materials and fiber reinforcement in his research. The story of Herbert Krenchel and the Krenit bowl is a true story. After a lengthy process of finding the correct production method, the Krenit bowl was launched in 1953. It quickly became popular and a clear example of Danish quality design. In 1954 the Krenit bowl won a golden medal at La Trienale in Milan.
