JAPANESE TOKANABE POTTERY COLLECTION - A large collection of Japanese Tokanabe pottery, marked ”Made in Japan” underneath as shown in photos. All pieces are in various conditions and some do contain minor chips or cracks. The largest vase measures, 11'' H x 7'' W x 6'' D. Tokanabe is a type of Japanese mold-pressed pottery created in the 1920s and 30s for the US market. It was produced in Japan and widely distributed by the Sears Company in their catalogs. Tokanabe ware is characterized by its matte black surface, stippled texture, and hand-painted, raised relief designs. It came in a variety of forms, including vases, bowls, and incense burners.
