MURANO BLOWN GLASS VASE - This lot features a Murano blown glass vase in very good condition. This blown glass vase measures, 8'' H x 6'' W x 6'' D. Murano glass, known for its vibrant colors and intricate designs, traces its origins back to 1291 when all glassmakers in Venice were mandated to relocate to Murano, an island in the Venetian lagoon. This move, driven by concerns about fire hazards from the glassblowing furnaces, also served to protect the secrets of Murano glassmaking. Since then, Murano has become the center of Venetian glass production, and its glassmakers have developed a unique style and techniques, including filigree and murrine, that have become synonymous with Murano glass.
