Rare Aerial Fire Escape Vehicle - Paper Litho Toy
Alphabet Printed on Carriage Sides. Made by the W. S. Reed Company. Leominster, Ma. - 1890's - 31" Long. This is certainly one of the most fascinating toys from the Thomas Collection. It depicts a rare form of fire apparatus that deploys an aerial pulley system that aids firefighters in the rescue of trapped persons on floors higher than the ground level. Four seated firemen and one standing on the running board will presumably spring into action as soon as they arrive at the blaze. Reed never wastes any potential surface to ornament their toys. In this piece, the sides of the vehicle are printed with the 26 letters of the alphabet.
Condition: Pristine with Outstanding Patina.
