Bidspirit auction | Deluxe Painted Cupola - Cast
Deluxe Painted Cupola - Cast Iron Mechanical Bank - (Finished with Eight Colors). Made by the J. & E. Stevens Company. Cromwell, Connecticut - Circa 1875. The Cupola Bank is one of the most exciting and dynamic of the architectural themed mechanical banks. To operate it, you must first press the cupola down and lock it into place. Now, you can push the brass door knocker in and witness the upper domed cupola pop up. This action reveals a top-hatted bank teller who bears a striking resemblance to Abraham Lincoln. He leans forward and indicates the coin aperture for your deposit. This represents a sublime example of the Cupola Bank. It is certainly one of the finest condition specimens in the world. Illustrated P. 77 in the Morphy Book. Condition: Near Mint Condition.
